This is a neat cheat for the PSX version of Panzer General. I discovered it playing the Balkans map. You'll understand why once I expalin it.
Nornally, when you buy a unit, you buy it for one of your faction's countries and place it near a city owned by that country. For example, greek units go to greek controlled cities, romanian units to romanian controlled cities, etc. That's no good. Many of these smaller countries have shity armies (at least in PG). With this this trick, you can for example deploy British troops at Greek cities or Romanian ones at German cities (Why!!? Stalingrad encirclement all over again!).
To deploy one country's unit at another allied country's city...
- go to the purchase interface and select the unit you want
- then select the country of the city you want to put it at, as if you were going to browse then buy one of their units. But don't. Just do the purchase without picking the newly select country's unit.
- Now place your unit at a city owned by the country you sleected in step 2
Example: if I wanted to deploy a british HW Inf 39 at a Greek city, I'd open up on the purchase menu, select that unit, but then before buying the unit i'd select the Greek flag icon to see their units. But instead of selecting one, I click purchase. I now have a British HW Inf 39 assigned to the Greek army.
